ERAS Pre-Surgery Education
At Sarasota Memorial, we believe an informed patient is an empowered patient. You play a key role in your recovery.
Knowing what to expect before, during and after surgery can help reduce anxiety, prevent complications, decrease recovery time, and make your hospital experience more comfortable.
Those are the goals of our pre-surgery education and recovery-optimizing program, which we call “Enhanced Recovery After Surgery,” or ERAS.
ERAS is an evidence-based, patient-centered program developed to ensure patients' successful recovery after a surgical procedure. Participants attend a free, interactive class online, where they learn how to optimize their nutrition, breathing capacity, and functional status before surgery so that they can reach their post-surgical goals faster and easier.
Currently, preoperative ERAS education classes are available for these types of surgical procedures: General Surgery; Gastrointestinal (G.I.) Surgery; Gynecological (GYN) Surgery; GYN Cancer Surgery; Mastectomy; Thoracic Surgery; and Orthopedic Surgery - Joint and Spine Surgery.
For more information about Sarasota Memorial's ERAS classes, call 941-917-7585.
